Position Overview:  

Under general supervision, prepares working plans, detailed drawings and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of moderately complex components and assemblies from notes, verbal instructions and rough or detailed sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes, frequently using computerized equipment (AutoCad/SolidWorks 3D CAD Systems).

Responsibilities / Job Duties

  • • Under supervision, develops complete layout and engineering drawings of a variety of components and assemblies such as schematics, interconnect lists and parts breakdown from notes, rough sketches or general instructions of engineers and designers.  May create, and modify detailed drawings using 3D CAD software
  • • Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. 
  • • Determines scaling, inserts necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations and sectioning
  • • Develops and creates 3D model by prototype or 2D drawing
  • • May use special techniques in schematic drawing, isometric orthographic, perspective projection or other techniques of technical illustration
  • • Working knowledge of tolerances, material, finishes, etc. is desired
  • • Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and implementation
  • • Make corrections to current drawings
  • • Take ownership and maintain drawing revisions
  • • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and rules
  • • Create and maintain a safe and sanitary working environment
  • • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications 

  • • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • • Technical/Trade School certification
  • • Working knowledge of 3D CAD Systems
  • • Knowledge of Pressure Vessels, Skids (Structural), piping and P&ID’s
  • • Must have knowledge of production equipment, GPU’s and Separator packages
  • • Must be able to read and understand ASME Pressure Vessel Code Calculations
  • • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • • Results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • • Strong problem-solving, organizational and administrative skills, including computer proficiency 
  • • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • • 2 years of experience in CAD Drafting and Design (Solid Works and/or AutoCad)
  • • Prefer the ability to read P&ID’s & Bill of Material
  • • Prefer Associates Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical
  • • Prefer 2-4 years of work experience in CAD Drafting and Design
  • • Prefer 2 years of experience in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drafting and design
  • • Prefer gas compressor equipment experience

 

Physical Requirements

  • • Ability to stand, sit and/or walk on a hard surface as well as safely bend, stoop, reach and climb steps
  • • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • • Ability to communicate verbally using a telephone
  • • Vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Working Conditions 

  • Office Environment with controlled temperatures
  • • Subject to outdoor and plant environment with adjusting temperatures and climate
